Walker 256 carcinosarcoma cells, after twenty hours in isotonic saline suspension at room temperature, lose their ability to establish growths when transplanted to host rats of the same species. The element of infection may have been greater in this study than when the suspension is simply counted once and injected into a large group of animals, but the work does suggest the need for more accurate control of the age factor in experiments of this type.
